How good is this..... the painters arrived about half an hour ago and have already painted the ensuite and bathroom in white.
I
had a chat with the painter and he made the point of when having white
wall tiles with white walls, how the wall tiles dont stand out that
much.
When seeing the white walls and how the wall tiles have no
definition, I totally agree so we have decided to stick with the cream
colour.
What a champ though. Painting the 2 rooms in white so I can visually see the difference.
Added bonus, we get another layer of paint in the wet areas.... :o)
As for progress, the doors have all been undercoated and they have started cutting in around the cornices.
The painters should be finished Tuesday and then we'll have the sparky, plumbers and the chippies in to do the door handles.

More painting
Today saw the first coat of topcoat and the ceilings done. They also made a start on the doors too.
The wall colour has come up more of a creamy/yellow but we are quite happy with it.
One problem we noticed though. We originally wanted the laundry, bathroom and ensuite walls in white. The painters have done it in the cream colour.
The laundry actually looks good so we will leave it but we would really prefer the bathroom and ensuite walls in white.
Will have to sort this out asap.
Its also 1 year today when Masterton came out and did the first site inspection.

Internal painting
The internal painting started this week.
Most of yesterday, the painters were cutting in and working on the architraves and window frames.
Today had one of the painters doing the same and the other was spraying the base coat and some of the first coat of paint.
The colour we selected seems a lot darker than the sample. Mind you, I only got a chance to check it and take pics this evening.
The woodwork also looks dark. Im glad we didnt stick with the original Teak stain.

External painting done
The painters finished off the external painting on Friday. They did the second coat around the eaves and gutters, as-well as the lintels, support beam and the alfresco ceiling.
I think they will be back tomorrow to start on the internals.
We had our glass canopy range-hood delivered on Friday too.

Painting - eaves & gutters
The painters spent a majority of the day painting the eaves, meter box, downpipes & also the Alfresco ceiling.
Looks like they did the first coat and will probably finish up the external work with the second coat tomorrow.
The house looks so much brighter with the eaves done.

Painting started
The painters made a start today. They mainly did gap filling and preparation work.
I spoke to the painter and he reckons they should be done in around 8 days.
I also had a look at the stain we selected for our woodwork and being Teak, it is very dark.
Our painter mentioned that we can call in to the local paint supplier and check out what the options are so we can change it. As we were on our way to Batemans Bay today anyway, it was perfect timing, so we called in to the paint supplier and went over our options and we ended up with a lighter coloured maple stain, which should look a lot brighter than the Teak.
We also went to the carpet supplier (Carpetcourt) and brought home some samples so we could have a think about it.
We have booked them in to come tomorrow for a measure and quote.
Heres the choices we like the most:
BR1, BR2, BR3, BR4 - Mandalay, Rice:
Home Theatre - Mandalay, China Sea:
Study/BR5 - La Dolce Vita?:
Our dunnies and Gas hot water system was also delivered today.

Tiling complete
The tiler was back today and completed 99.9% of the tiling.
The Laundry and ensuite are complete but he didnt have enough of the feature tiles to complete the main bathroom.
He also lowered the height of the tiles behind the vanity in the main bathroom as it was way too high.
I believe that the house is now ready to be painted.

Back into it.....for real this time.
Our SS turned up today after his 4 week holiday and gave me an update on where we stand.
He was a little disappointed that nothing had really been done in the last week as he was expecting the cornices to have been completed and the painters to have made a start.
He told me he'd get onto the tradies and get it sorted.
Sure enough, a couple of hours later the plasterers turned up and the cornices in the Kitchen, Bathroom & Ensuite were done.
Our SS also told me that our flooring was booked in for the end of the month but he will have to re-schedule due to the delays.
He still assured me that we should be done by the end of next month, which was welcome news.

1 year down
It is now 1 year to the day when I made first contact with Masterton. Back then, I thought that we would be living in the house by now.
I hope next week is a hive of activity as we've only been getting 1 days work per week.
At that rate, we will be finished by Easter......I really hope not.

Better than nothing.
We had a little bit of action today with the chippies turning up to install the other sidelight near the front door and also complete a little bit of the skirting and architraves.
They were hear for about an hour and have gone already.
At least something has happened this week.

Back into it....sort of.
We finally had some work start up again on the house. Last Friday (11.01.13) saw delivery and installation of our beautiful stone bench tops.
Unfortunately Yesterday and today nothing happened which is very disappointing.
We are kind of over waiting and we just want to get this all done and dusted so we can get on with our lives.
Here's some pics of the bench tops. They look much better in real life.
